Zand - The Karim Khan castle (Arge-e Karim Khan)

The Karim Khan castle is a citadel located in the downtown Shiraz, southern Iran. It was built as part of a complex during the Zand dynasty and is named after Karim Khan and it is known as Karim Khan Prison too. Its great importance is due to the architectural style of the mentioned area of Zand.
This castle or "Arg" was constructed at 11088 Ah by the Karim Khan Zand (Founder of Zand dynasty) command, in Shiraz. The design of this building is both Military and residential. Its exterior firm and very tall walls with some turret on its top show that the place used for soldiers establishment and their gunfire in the wartime.
Towers, which were located in this castle, have three distinct floors with circular stairs for the commute. In each floor, there were located two rooms, one for soldiers resting, and the other one for keeping the weapon. This brick castle with very tall walls contains four towers on its four corners.

Carpet (Rug)

• Carpet weaving in Sajade or Alter design.
One the most well-known characteristic of the rugs of those eras which was woven in Turkey were rugs with altering or Sajade design that decorated the mosques and palaces of those eras.

• Weaving Nomadic or tribal rugs as courtier rugs
Zand dynasty was rooted in the tribe, a tribe that all its members came to Shiraz in order to govern the country. Palaces of Zand Dynasty were decorated with Fars tribal rugs, these types of rugs were mostly made of wool and coarse weaving (with a lower number of notes) with "Persian nodes."

• Flower Design (Gol Farang design)
Flower designs or "Gol Farang" is known as the main motif of characteristics of Zand eras motif in mosques and holy places, these figures and shapes were decorated the wall paintings and tiles, and it was found on woven and non-woven textiles.
