Achaemenes - Lotus Symbol
Naiad flower of Lotus or eastern lily in the ancient Iran had particular importance. Naiad flower has its root in soil, stem in water and its face toward the sun. This flower is the symbol of nobility, spiritual growth, perfection, and humans' birth and growth cycle. Naiad flower has profound root in human beings unconscious and it encompasses the world of gods and men in itself and it fuses with life origin and imagination. This lotus flower is the sign of purity in Achaemenes buildings and it was used as the decoration, as it was found in Persepolis palace as an adornment of lithographs and capitals.
Carpet (Persian rug)
The Pazyryk carpet or Pazyryk rug is one of the oldest carpet in the world, dating around 5BC. This square rug with 2 square meters dimension (183*210) has 36 knots in each centimeter, in the modern terminology it is also called "Turkish knot". The colors that were used in this rug are green, lateritious, dark red, blue, and brown. It was found 70 years ago near to Siberia. Now it is exhibited at the Hermitage Museum.
